Why Getting A Pixie Cut Is The Best

Those of you who read my blog fairly often probably know that I have short hair – not that it’s a big deal or anything, it’s just not what you typically see on girls and women. Or at least I don’t.

Here are two photos of me (both just taken from Facebook because they were all I could find. Please ignore the fake rose in my mouth on the left. I don’t know what 13-year-old me was thinking…)

I’ve had short hair for quite a while now, since late 2014 or start 2015 I think, and honestly I don’t think I could ever go back to having long hair as I did (and not just because of the horrible fases of growing your hair out. Yikes). The reason for this post is the fact that I got a haircut last Saturday. Now my hair is the shortest it’s ever been and I’m really loving it!

Then I just thought, “hey, why not write a post about reasons to get a short do?”. And why not indeed. Maybe there’s someone out there who’s thinking of it themselves but hasn’t done it yet for some reason.
So if that’s you or if you’re merely curious as to why someone would cut their hair off *gasp*, then read along and I shall try my best to deliver 🙂

Here are the 8 best reasons I can think of that will hopefully convince you to go get your hair chopped asap:

8 Reasons to get a

1. It’s easy
Numero uno is probably what I like most about having short hair. If you suck at braiding, straightening, curling your hair and all that jazz just like I do, I would definitely recommend a pixie cut. I didn’t know how to do anything with my hair (besides a ponytail), so it was just there. Long, straight and very boring. Shorter hair can be difficult to style yes but it’s really up to you how easy you want to make it. I usually takes me 5-10 minutes to do my hair in the morning.

2. It looks badass
This is just a fact. Even if it’s not a particularly “edgy” cut there’s still something about short hair on females that’s just really cool. I feel like it kinda shows that they’re not afraid to be themselves and stand out a bit. Or at least that’s my personal opinion.

Seriously, they ALL look good

3. You’ll stand out
If you’re tired of looking just like everyone else (and not necessarily in a “I just need attention” kinda way), then going shorter might make you feel a bit more free and like you’re not just following the crowd.

4. Save money!
This is just another fact as well. You will use less shampoo and go through less bobby pins and hair ties. The only downside to this is that you can’t be a good buddy when someone asks for a hair tie – unless you just like carrying them around of course 😛

5. It’s nice and breezy
It’s awesome having short hair in summer. Especially if you have thick hair. I don’t myself so I only felt a small difference, but a friend of mine told me she was so relieved that it no longer felt like she were being suffocated by hair.

This lil gal is clearly suffering because of her long hair ;P

6. Easy to fix bad hair days
Either you can throw a cap or hat on and everything will be completely covered, or if you have more time you can just throw your head under the tap, wash it and then blowdry it for 5 minutes. That’s what I do when I wake up and it’s all over the place and won’t submit. Easy as that

7. It dries in no time
I mentioned it above as well but I really feel like it needs to be emphasized. With short hair you’ll no longer walk around half the day with damp hair because it takes a 100 years to dry. Blow drying my hair takes 3-5 minutes and when I just let it air dry it’s dry in maximum 20-30 minutes.

8. It’s new and different
If you feel like you don’t really know what your look is or if it feels bland, then why not spice it up? Trying something completely different from what you’re used to can really help you figure out your style and it can also force you not to hide behind a mass of hair – simply because there isn’t anything to hide behind.

So yeah, I’m clearly a big lover of pixie cuts. The only argument there is against cutting your hair is if you can honestly say to yourself that you like your hair just the way it is. Then that is the style for you. But don’t dismiss the idea because you’re afraid that it won’t suit you or that you’ll feel less feminine. Anyone can rock it. And even if you find out that it’s just not working for you, it’s just hair. Don’t worry, it’ll grow back.

That was it for this time! Let me know if you’re a fellow bearer of short hair or if you’ve thought about making the chop. Why did you cut it or what’s stopping you?

Thanks for reading amigos xxx

        1. I love that you’re trying, even with the commas and all. I could definitely understand it and it worked well, but I would probably have written this instead (just to make it less formal):
“Jeg tror, at gode pranks er sjove for alle. For den person, der udfører den, for den person, det går ud over, og også for den person, der så på”.
It basically means the same, I just rephrased it a bit 🙂 Where are you from btw?

  1. Love short hair, I think I really never had it too long, every year I would beg my mom just before summer to cut it off, I always had it quite thin and it’s pretty oily, so I need to wash it every day. So it’s easier to just have it short, plus as you point it out in your post, it’s practical and cheaper to maintain. The shortest I’ve had it ever was when I shaved half of my head, I loved it! so crazy and so punk! Unfortunately, I can’t now for my job, but I am looking forward to a pretty short asymmetrical bob for this year. 😛

    1. There’s nothing worse than hair just hanging there, and I feel like especially with thin hair, having long hair makes it look kinda sad (if that makes sense) 😛 I definitely relate to that.
And btw that sounds like a badass haircut! aww that’s a shame, but bobs are pretty cool too 🙂
